Snow at 911 update

Image
Note that at this time there is limited parking at 911. The recent snow storms and subsequent high winds have resulted in significant accumulation in the lot. These high winds and extremely low temperatures have made it impossible to deal with.

The amount of snow we have received over the past several weeks is adding up.

Canadian Flag

The Canadian Flag is 60 years old, as of yesterday. Saturday was Canada Flag Day. Let's celebrate the Canadian Flag proudly.  CANADA AND IT'S FLAG ARE NOT FOR SALE!

Snow and more snow...

The snow has not stopped falling since yesterday afternoon. It is predicted to stop this evening. It was a disappointment seeing a truck with a large trailer parked in the snow plow turnaround area yesterday afternoon.  The road was plowed this morning to 911. There are now two trucks with trailers parked where they should not be. Peter H spoke to the snow plow driver who is struggling on where to push the snow, and to turn around.

Road and Parking Update

Image
We received close to 40 cm of fresh snow last night and into this morning.  Clarke Road to 911 was plowed early. Great news. Let's make sure no one parks across 911 where the snowplow turnaround is please. This has happened in the past. If the area is blocked, the plow driver may not return next time.  John J. spent hours today on his tractor clearing snow at 911.  Thank you John! The road into the cottages from 911 is in great shape for snowmobiles and tracked machines, like our tracked side-by-side. But due to the the depth and softness of the snow, it may be tough for wheeled ATVs etc.  These are pictures taken first thing this morning. A significant amount of snowmobile traffic has been on it this afternoon. More snow is in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.  If you love snow, you will enjoy this Family Day Weekend at Elephant Lake.

For all those who had a long trip getting to 911 and need relief, there is an outhouse behind JJ's garage that is equipped with the necessary basics and is open for use by anyone.

Family Day Weekend Parking at 911

Hello to all Elephant Lakers.  We expect that Family Day weekend will be busy up here as in previous years.  As most of you are hearing, there is an expectation of a major winter storm to start this Wednesday evening and continue into Thursday. The predictions are for 20 to 40 cm of new snow accumulation. Fortunately John Jamieson (JJ) has resolved his tractor problems and will be working on clearing the parking lot at 911 after the snow stops. This could be later Thursday or maybe not until Friday. Thank you JJ!! Take care driving up and we hope you have a great Family Day weekend. 👪
