Travel Info - Road conditions

Image
Clarke Road that is maintained by the town has not been sanded, salted or plowed. They estimate that it will be by 5:00 PM today. Please note that many of the roads in the area are under the same "Significant Weather Declared" advisory. There is snow on top of the ice at 911. Parking is ok. View up Clarke Road to the town. I drove about 100 yards on it and then came back to 911. Best to wait until it is sanded / salted before driving on it. View of Clarke Road to the lake. It's fine for tracked machines.  One rotten tree was down on Boston Hill. It has been cleared.

Freezing Rain Update

Peter made it out to 911. "Took a trip out to the mill to assess if Kim can get to Barrie today. Clarke road is glare ice and completely impassible. If anyone has guest coming I suggest they postpone until later today or tomorrow." The deck and table were clear yesterday. This morning covered in ice. Blowing snow. The wind is very strong.

Sunday before the freezing rain.

We had several inches of snow fall over the past few days. The parking lot at 911 has been cleared. The road in from 911 has been groomed. Both are in great shape thanks to John and Peter!  A couple of pictures of the road snowmobiling in from 911. Came across two of these on the road this morning. It has started to rain and with the forecast calling for it all night, we will see how the conditions are tomorrow....

Travel to and on the lake..

The parking area at 911 is very icy after the recent thaw then rain followed by a freeze and some light snow. Pleas be careful walking around your vehicles etc. The drive in from 911 is also icy underneath the light snow. The washboard parts are frozen solid making for a slow drive.  A tree did come down during the recent high winds. We did not lose Hydro thankfully. Peter's report on the lake ice conditions:  " Ice report #3. 8 holes drilled - 7 inches of ice at all 8 locations. No slush."

New washing machine for sale

Image
A new Maytag washing machine that was used less than 10 times is up for sale. Unfortunately it's a tall version that the owner's (Roger Rivard) wife struggled with for that reason.  Roger paid $1K for it and is willing to sell it for $500.  It's located close by. Let me know at edurba56@gmail.com, or text me at 705-455-0684 if interested.

Road Conditions Update

The snow is here to stay....  JJ's snow clearing tractor is having some mechanical challenges again and the parking at 911 is not cleared currently. John is working on it and hopes to have the tractor blowing snow again soon. Here are some pictures of the current conditions on the road in from 911. The road is fine for snowmobiles and other tracked machines. But driving at a higher speed often creates a washboard effect that is very frustrating to drive on afterwards. Driving at high speeds results in the tracks spinning enough to create this washboard effect.  Peter has been grooming the road with his snow drag to remove these washboard areas. But that takes time and gas. Thank you Peter.
