Warmer and Muddy

We have had a couple of warmer days, followed by several colder nights and days. The snow has been melting but the ground is frozen and does not absorb the moisture well, resulting in some areas of the roads becoming very muddy.

This is a part of Storey Road.

Some parts of Clarke Road before getting to 911 are the same.

Early morning road travel along Clarke Road to 911 is better because the mud is frozen from the night before. By late morning, the mud is soft and it's best to have 4 wheel or all wheel drive for the next several weeks.

The lake currently has a crusty layer of snow on top making for good travel, either by foot of snowmobile. It was slushy for a couple of days, but the recent cold days and nights have created this crust.

Warmer weather is forecasted for the next several days. Rain is expected this weekend. This will result in slushy conditions on the ice so be careful if planning to go on it.

The road from 911 to the cottages is currently in good shape, although it will become soft and soon muddy.

Brian S. from East Bay (Tusk Trail) made the journey by foot from 911 to his cottage to remove the snow off the roof this week. That was a long trek!
